We always recommend that students come on a proper visa and it’s up to the student to make that decision. While the majority of our students come on an F-1 student visa, some choose otherwise. Unless otherwise instructed by the authorities, at the present time LSI will accept enrollments of individuals in any course of study should they present themselves at the school with a visa other than an F-1. In this case, the individual assumes all responsibility for the maintenance of their legal immigration status in the United States.
Persons with Tourist Visas may be allowed to study at the school if their reason for being in the US is tourism and their course is incidental to this, subject to the determination of the Port of Entry officer. According to <http://travel.state.gov/> http://travel.state.gov: Enrollment in a short recreational course of study, which is not for credit toward a degree or academic certificate, is permitted on a visitor (B) visa.
The student should be aware that if he or she chooses to travel on a tourist visa or visa waiver but tells immigration that he or she is coming here to study, the immigration officer at the Port of Entry (airport) may ask for a student visa which the student does not have. In this case, the student may not be allowed entry to the United States.

We have a wide variety of activities both in the afternoons and on the weekends for students to sign up for. Typically they include a variety of shopping, tourist and dining outings and sign-ups are available in our student lounge.
Students wishing to enroll in the TOEFL program must test at the upper intermediate or advanced level on their placement test.
Our Standard 20 English Course does not include any activities. However, there are optional activities offered every day which students can participate in at their own cost after school and during the weekend. This can include visits to the San Diego Zoo, sporting events, outdoor activities, and visits to different restaurants around San Diego.

Homestay is only available for students. Instead, I recommend the Somerset Suites option.

Our Junior Program has different age ranges available depending on
the season and if they are accompanied by an adult.
1) 8-10 year olds are grouped together by age and living with their family or
a guardian as part of the Family Program, classes held at our downtown
school location.
2) 11-13 years olds only in accompanied groups on campus (summer) or living
with their family or a guardian (winter and summer). 3) 14-17 year olds can
stay on their own in homestay in winter, and on campus in residence during
summer.
4) 16 & 17 year olds: These students have the choice of joining our
Juniors’ Program or one of our adult programs. The Juniors’ Program is a
more structured program and we require full participation unless parental
consent is given to miss any activity. We understand that some 16 -17 year
olds prefer a little more independence, so we suggest that the student and
parent discuss which option would be most suitable for them.
Unfortunately, no, we do not have a Junior Winter Program in December. The Junior Winter Program starts on January and ends on February
I would recommend a room at either Comfort Inn Gaslamp or West Park Inn. Both options have their own private bathrooms, mini fridge and microwave. West Park Inn is located very close (2 blocks) from our school, and while Comfort Inn is just under a mile away, it is in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp district which features a number of shops and restaurants.
Typically, there are two singles in the bed; however, we can ask if we have any double bed’s available.
